Managing Partner

Philip is the Founder and Managing Partner of Okiring & Co Advocates.

Philip advises a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from startups and SMEs to established corporations, foreign investors, and nonprofit organizations on the full spectrum of business legal needs.

His practice spans international trade, customs and import/export compliance, cross-border transactions, investment structuring, corporate governance, business establishment, and regulatory compliance.

He is particularly valued for his ability to help businesses navigate the dynamic legal and commercial landscape of Uganda and the broader East African region with clarity and confidence.

With over a decade of legal practice, Philip has built a reputation for delivering strategic, practical counsel that goes beyond legal opinion.

Before founding Okiring & Co Advocates, Philip honed his expertise at some of Uganda’s leading law firms, including Muwema & Mugerwa Advocates, KMA Advocates,T-Davis Wesley & Co. Advocates and BBM Advocates.
There, he developed a strong foundation in corporate advisory, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, data protection, and tax advisory which experience continues to shape his current work ethic and professionalism.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Kampala International University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala. He is an Advocate of the Courts of Uganda and a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East Africa Law Society.

Salwa is an Associate Partner at Okiring & Co Advocates. She advises clients across modern banking and financial law, tax, real estate, and regulatory compliance.

She provides strategic legal counsel to businesses, investors, financial institutions, and individuals on tax planning, corporate transactions, business structuring, commercial contracts, real estate transactions, and regulatory matters.

Her practice combines legal and policy expertise to help clients navigate complex legal and commercial environments in Uganda and internationally.
She is admitted to practice law in Uganda and the State of New York and is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East Africa Law Society, the American Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.

With over 10 years of experience spanning both the United States and Uganda, Salwa brings a truly global perspective to her practice. Her career includes serving as In-House Counsel at AGS Tax Group in Newton, Massachusetts and as a Law Clerk at the New Jersey Superior Court. Beyond private practice, Salwa has contributed to legal and policy advisory work, including institutional engagement and advocacy, reflecting her commitment to the development of law not just as a profession, but as a force for progress.

Salwa holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law (USA), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Makerere University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala.
